Spotted in San Francisco part I: City Compost Bin

For those of you in S.F., this post won't be a big deal, but for folks like me in places where having a recycling pick up at your house is a big deal* it was quite a shock to learn that the city of San Francisco picks up compostable items as well as the usual trash and recycling. Considering that city dwellers don't often have the yards necessary to do their own composting or the interest in keeping worms under their sinks, this is a fairly awesome thing. Does anyone know if this service exists in other US cities? In other countries?
*Buildings with more than 4 apartment units in Richmond, Virginia don't get recycling pick ups!

Ann Arbor does curbside compostable pick-up.
its a common thing in most of germany. they also pick up paper and all packaging...
Composting bins are available at our recycling center in Boston, but aren't used for curbside pickup. Instead, they are for "backyard use." They do collect yard waste here during the fall months.
Vancouver, BC: "yard waste" pickup every second week.
Yes, San Francisco's city-sponsored compost program rocks! Especially when you consider how much compostable material restaurants produce, too.
Glendale, California, and Los Angeles also have compost pick ups.
Every city should have this. I visited Aliso Viejo in Orange County this summer and they don't even have recycling pick ups. For shame, Aliso Viejo!!!!
