noah scalin
A graduate of the NYU Tisch School of The Arts, Noah is a lifelong activist (whose first protest marches were spent in a stroller and then on roller skates).
The former art director of independent movie studio Troma Entertainment and international clothing company Avirex, Noah used his experience with youth marketing and passion for grassroots activism to create his own ethically driven firm.
Noah’s work at ALR has gained international exposure in over a dozen books and is frequently featured in design publications, including How Magazine’s “Good Company” cover story Jan/Feb 2006. Noah also developed a course on socially conscious design for Virginia Commonwealth University and founded a long running community supported agriculture group in Richmond, Virginia.
A forthcoming book, based on his popular blog Skull-A-Day, will be published by Lark Books.

kristin murray
Born and reared in the mountains of the Blue Ridge, Kristin moved to Richmond at the ripe young age of 18, with her sites set on design school at VCU. After a brief hiatus spent in the Netherlands, she returned to Richmond, Virginia to finish her studies. Afterward she found herself on ALR’s doorstep, like a baby in a basket, waiting to soak up knowledge. When not preoccupied with life’s essentials, her nose can usually be found in a book, while visions of libraries and ladders abound in her imagination.

jo lord
Jo is an advertising copywriter and magazine writer with more than 20 years’ experience working for clients across the country and around the corner. Her experience includes equal parts producing big ideas and writing print, TV, radio, packaging, videos, websites and fabulous articles for a bunch of publications.
Jo loves working with ALR because, in Noah, she’s found a kindred spirit who’s also a big fan of Mother Earth. She appreciates that he gets why she’s a vegetarian, drives a tiny car, takes two-minute showers, frets about electronics in landfills, worries about the polar bears and stays up until all hours wondering which is truly better, paper or plastic.
